DEPUTY

MANAGER

Deputy Manager

  • 3 Bed EBD Children's Home

  • Loughborough, Leicestershire

  • £35,360 to £38,480 basic (£17 to £18.50 per hour), rising to a realistic £42,560 to £45,680 once you factor in 10 sleep-ins a month at £60 a night, plus a £2 per hour uplift on any overtime.

  • 2 on 4 off pattern.

This is a brand new 3 bed home for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. The organisation behind this home has built a strong reputation across the East Midlands for trauma informed therapeutic care, with a track record of Good and Outstanding Ofsted ratings across its existing homes, and that consistency tells you a lot about how seriously leadership takes safeguarding, staff development, and listening to the children in their care.

Why this Deputy Manager role stands out:

  • A new home, so you're shaping its culture and standards from the very beginning

  • Backed by a provider with a proven history of Good and Outstanding Ofsted judgements across multiple homes

  • A 2 on 4 off shift pattern

  • A pay structure where sleep-ins and overtime add to your income

What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting the Registered Manager with the day to day leadership and operational running of the home

  • Leading and coaching the staff team on shift, modelling excellent practice with young people who present with emotional and behavioural difficulties

  • Contributing to care planning, risk assessments, and behaviour support plans tailored to each individual child

  • Supporting Ofsted readiness and regulatory compliance, including involvement in areas like Regulation 44 visits and Statement of Purpose reviews

  • Building relationships with external professionals such as social workers, education providers, and health teams

  • Leading on staff supervision, rota management, and shift coverage in the manager's absence

  • Being a visible, hands on presence during sleep-ins and covering on-call responsibilities as needed

What you'll need:

  • A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare as a minimum, with a genuine appetite to work towards Level 5

  • Strong experience working with children and young people who have experienced trauma, with an understanding of EBD presentations specifically

  • Previous experience in a Senior Support Worker, Team Leader, or Deputy Manager capacity within a children's residential setting

  • A full UK driving licence

  • The confidence to lead from the front on shift

The pay reflects the level of responsibility this Deputy Manager role carries, and the sleep-in structure is built so it contributes to your annual income. Combined with the overtime uplift and a shift pattern that gives you real time to switch off, this package compares well against other Deputy Manager vacancies in the East Midlands, particularly for a role attached to a provider with this kind of Ofsted track record.
