DEPUTY
MANAGER
Deputy Manager, Children’s Home (EBD)
Up to £40,000 per year
Full-time, permanent
3 sleep-ins per month
We’re recruiting a Deputy Manager for a small, therapeutic children’s home supporting young people aged 8–18 with emotional and behavioural difficulties. The model is intentionally small (2-bed) because relationships land better when there’s space to do the work properly.
This is a role for someone who enjoys being visible on shift, thoughtful in leadership, and serious about standards, while keeping the day-to-day human.
Why this provider is worth your time
You’ll be joining a family-led organisation that’s growing carefully, with a clear plan to open more small homes over the next few years. The leadership team has a mix of business and SEND education experience, and there’s hands-on oversight from an experienced Responsible Individual who focuses on developing future leaders.
The home follows a therapeutic approach and supports children to build stability, routines, and confidence in everyday life.
Recent inspection feedback for the provider’s service highlights strong day-to-day care and safeguarding practice, with children enjoying meaningful activities and improved engagement with education.
The role
As Deputy Manager, you’ll support the Registered Manager to keep the home running well and developing in the right direction.
You’ll be involved in:
Leading shifts and guiding practice across the home
Coaching and supervising staff, building a confident and capable team
Care planning, risk assessment, and safeguarding decisions
Quality assurance, recording standards, and contributing to inspection readiness
Working with families, social workers, education and health partners to keep plans moving
You’ll have real influence in how the home feels, how the team works, and how children experience care.
What we’re looking for
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
Minimum 18 months’ experience in a children’s home
Experience as a Senior Residential Support Worker or Deputy Manager
Confident communication, reflective practice, and consistent leadership
Full UK manual driving licence
Package and progression
Up to £40,000 per year
3 sleep-ins per month
28 days annual leave plus bank holidays
Training, pension, and employee support scheme
Ongoing mentoring and development with a clear pathway into Registered Manager roles as new homes open
