Waking Nights Residential Support Worker required for a small, well-established children's home in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent (ST1). Permanent 38 hour contract, £13.75 per hour, working 11pm to 8am on a 4 on, 4 off rota.

About the role

• Permanent contract, 38 hours per week

• 11pm to 8am waking nights, 4 on and 4 off shift pattern

• £13.75 per hour

• Occasional flexibility to cover day shifts if the needs of the young people change

• Based at a small children's home, established since 2021, built around consistency and person-centred care rather than a purely clinical or supervisory approach

Responsibilities

• Providing safe, awake supervision overnight and responding to any disturbed sleep, distress or incidents

• Keeping accurate records and clear handovers for the day team

• Supporting young people through their morning routine and getting them ready for school or their day

• Following safeguarding procedures and individual care plans

• Building consistent, trusting relationships with young people, including during the night hours

• Being open to covering day shifts if the service's needs change

What we're looking for

• Experience working with children or young people in a residential, education or similar care setting, ideally within children's residential care

• A calm and resilient approach to overnight work, without treating a difficult night as a crisis

• A genuine understanding of trauma-informed, person-centred care, or a real willingness to learn it

• Full UK driving licence, likely needed for this location

• Enhanced DBS, or willingness to obtain one

• Right to work in the UK
