New Learning Disability Residential Children's Home

£450 to £500 per day

One day per month contract

This is a Responsible Individual role for a brand new children's home in Burnley, specialising in Learning Disabilities, with a day rate of up to £500 depending on experience and starting at around one day a week while the home moves through its early setup phase. It's a role built for someone who's opened homes before, potentially more than once, and who understands that the first few months of a new service are where the real work happens, long before any child walks through the door.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the registration process and acting as the key point of contact through Ofsted's application stages

  • Advising on and helping shape the home's Statement of Purpose, policies and operational procedures ahead of opening

  • Providing governance and oversight for quality, safeguarding and regulatory compliance as the service develops

  • Working closely with the eventual Registered Manager once appointed, helping them settle into a service with proper foundations already in place

  • Engaging with prospective senior staff to help build early confidence in the project and its leadership

  • Reviewing progress against Ofsted's registration requirements and flagging anything that needs addressing before applications proceed

What you'll need:

  • Proven experience as a Responsible Individual, ideally including at least one previous home opening or registration process

  • Specific experience within Learning Disability services

  • A sound understanding of Ofsted's Quality Standards and the registration process from the ground up

  • Comfortable working semi-independently on a part time basis initially, with scope to increase involvement as the home progresses

  • A genuine interest in shaping something from scratch, maybe even a bit of enjoyment in the admin heavy early stages that some RIs find tedious

  • A Full UK Driving Licence

  • Minimum Level 5 in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare

  • Minimum 6 years experience in residential childcare
