Stoke on Trent | £350 to £450 per day DOE | Part time (min. 1 day per week)
A small, well resourced children’s home supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs, high staffing levels, strong investment in learning and development and leadership that stays close to practice.

The role
This is a part time Responsible Individual position providing oversight across a small children’s residential service. You’ll spend time in the home each week, alongside additional remote hours, maintaining a clear view of quality, culture and compliance.
You’ll focus on what makes the biggest difference to children’s experiences
relationships, consistency, reflective practice and thoughtful risk management.
Key responsibilities
Hold the formal Ofsted Responsible Individual role
Provide clear oversight of safeguarding, care quality and regulatory compliance
Visit the home regularly, spending time with children and staff to understand daily practice
Work in partnership with the Registered Manager, offering guidance, reflection and constructive challenge
Review incidents, themes and learning to support continuous improvement
Oversee Regulation 45 reporting and internal monitoring systems
Maintain strong professional relationships with local authorities, Ofsted and partner agencies
Support policy development, training priorities and service improvement plans
What you’ll bring
Experience as a Responsible Individual,
A track record of contributing to Good or Outstanding Ofsted outcomes
Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
Confident safeguarding judgement and decision making
The ability to mentor and develop Registered Managers
A genuine interest in hearing children’s views and understanding how practice is experienced
Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification (or equivalent) with current CPD
Experience that would be valuable
Oversight of small homes supporting children who have experienced trauma
Supporting services through registration, inspection or growth
Working with children presenting complex behaviours linked to attachment or neurodiversity
