Registered Manager
Children's Residential Home (EBD)
Batley, West Yorkshire (WF17)
£55,000 to £60,000 per annum
This is a Registered Manager position based in Batley, West Yorkshire, supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) within a four-bed Ofsted-regulated children's home, offered at a salary of £55,000 to £60,000 depending on experience, with genuine long-term career progression on the table for the right person.
There's a deep understanding here of how structure, consistency, and relationships shape outcomes for young people, and the provider has approached the setup of this home with that same thinking, investing significant time and resource into getting the foundations right before opening the door. The financial backing behind this provider is stable and long-term, with investors who are serious about quality and outcomes for the young people.
What the role involves:
Leading the Ofsted registration process in partnership with an experienced, locally-based Responsible Individual who has hands-on knowledge of children's residential regulation
Recruiting, building, and embedding a staff team that reflects your values and the home's ethos around trauma-informed, relationship-based care for young people with EBD
Taking day-to-day responsibility for the welfare, safeguarding, and development of up to four young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties
Ensuring full compliance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards framework
Working collaboratively with placing authorities, social workers, schools, and families to deliver meaningful, individualised care
Building the home's reputation through consistent, high-quality practice from the point of first placement
Potentially contributing to the provider's wider expansion plans as additional properties come on line, including senior operational roles as the organisation grows
What we're looking for:
An experienced Registered Manager with a track record in children's residential care, ideally with EBD specialism, or a Deputy Manager who holds a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare and is prepared to step into the RM role for the first time with the right support around them
Strong, working knowledge of Ofsted expectations, the Children's Homes Regulations, and what a strong Statement of Purpose looks like in practice
Someone based in or close to West Yorkshire, because this role needs a leader who is present and invested
Experience contributing to or leading an Ofsted registration would be a significant advantage, though maybe not essential for the right candidate with strong regulatory knowledge
The kind of values that show up in your practice every day, in how you talk about the young people you've worked with, in why you got into residential childcare, and in what you expect from yourself and your team
Full UK Driving Licence
Minimum of 5 years experience working in residential childcare
The salary of £55,000 to £60,000 reflects the complexity of this role and positions this role competitively within the West Yorkshire children's residential market, where Registered Manager salaries for quality EBD homes are increasingly reflecting the skill, responsibility, and emotional intelligence the job demands.
If you've been in residential childcare long enough to know what a well-run home actually looks like, and you've maybe been waiting for the right opportunity to build something rather than inherit something, it's worth having a conversation about this one.
Get in touch and let's talk through whether this could be the right move for you.
