A new two-bed children’s home is being established in Batley for young people with complex learning disabilities and additional needs. It’s not a speculative project, it’s being developed at the direct request of Kirklees Council, who’ve worked closely with the provider to meet local need. The home meets fast-track criteria for Ofsted registration and is fully backed by an experienced senior team.
This organisation already runs supported accommodation for adults and leaving-care services, known for their hands-on leadership and quality care. Now, they’re expanding into the children’s sector with the same approach: thoughtful staffing, strong training, and a focus on doing things properly from the start.
The role
As Registered Manager, you’ll hold Ofsted registration and lead the home through setup, registration and its first inspection. You’ll build and develop your team, embed structure and consistency, and create a genuinely nurturing environment where children can thrive.
You’ll be responsible for:
Leading the home in line with the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
Overseeing registration, compliance and inspection preparation
Leading safeguarding and care planning for children with learning disabilities and additional needs
Recruiting, supervising and developing staff through reflection and training
Building strong links with Kirklees Council, families, schools and health professionals
Creating a home culture built on respect, care and meaningful progress
What you’ll bring:
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards it)
Experience managing or deputising within a children’s home
Background supporting young people with learning disabilities or complex needs
Strong understanding of Ofsted frameworks and safeguarding
Leadership that balances structure, empathy and professional accountability
