REGISTERED MANAGER

Children’s Residential Home (EBD)
Location: Burntwood, Staffordshire (in-person)
Salary: Up to £55,000 per year + performance bonus

The role

If you’ve ever wished you could run a home properly with the freedom to do what’s right for children, not just what’s quickest; this is that chance.

You’ll be leading a small, therapeutic children’s home with a provider that actually understands what good practice looks like day to day. You’ll hold Ofsted registration, shape a stable, skilled team, and build a culture where care feels calm, consistent and meaningful.

Senior leaders here know the sector inside out, they’ve done the job themselves, so you’ll have full autonomy with the right kind of backup when you need it.

Why it’s worth your time

  • Freedom with support: You set the tone and lead your team your way, with an experienced RI and central support to lean on.

  • Therapeutic practice that sticks: No gimmicks. Just proper, relationship-based care, reflective supervision and sensible rotas that make consistency possible.

  • Room to grow: The group is expanding across the Midlands, so if you want to step up into multi-site or operational leadership later, that path’s already open.

What you’ll do

  • Hold Ofsted registration and manage day-to-day operations in line with SCCIF and the Children’s Homes Regulations.

  • Lead, mentor and develop a strong, values-led team through supervision, training and reflection.

  • Maintain quality and safeguarding standards through effective care planning, audits and Reg 44/45 processes.

  • Keep the culture on shift therapeutic and predictable; the kind where children know they’re safe and staff know what’s expected.

  • Oversee placements and admissions thoughtfully to protect relationships and outcomes.

  • Build close working partnerships with families, schools, local authorities and health professionals.

  • Track performance using data that actually means something; trends, incidents, stability, and the stories behind them.

What you’ll bring

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).

  • Experience as a Registered Manager in a Residential Childcare setting.

  • Confidence in leading teams, managing inspections, and embedding the Quality Standards.

  • A steady, reflective style of leadership; calm under pressure and genuinely child-focused.

  • Full UK manual driving licence.

What’s on offer

  • Up to £55,000 base salary + performance bonus for meeting fair, transparent KPIs.

  • Ongoing training and CPD that genuinely develops your practice.

  • A clear, supported pathway for progression within a growing, values-led organisation.

  • Pension, on-site parking and all the tools you need to lead well.

If you’re hands-on, child-led and ready to build something lasting, this is where you’ll do your best work.
