MANAGER
Registered Manager | Solo Placement Children’s Home (EBD)
Location: Bradley, Huddersfield
Salary: Up to £60,000 per year + £2,000 registration bonus + £5,000 Ofsted bonus
A brand-new solo placement home is being created in Bradley, and the organisation behind it wants to shape something thoughtful, therapeutic and genuinely child-centred. A service built around proper care, strong values and a manager who wants to put their stamp on something meaningful.
The home is being designed specifically for young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs, supported through a 2:1 or 3:1 model so the work feels safe, consistent and purposeful. Everything is being set up with intention, from the routines to the staffing structure, and you’ll be right at the centre of it.
What you’ll lead
You’ll take ownership of the entire registration process, shaping the home from day one and building the foundations for a culture that lasts. The organisation will back you with consultant support, compliance guidance and the freedom to lead with confidence.
Your role will include:
Leading the Ofsted registration process from preparation to approval
Full day-to-day responsibility for the home and its development
Managing your own diary and working flexibly, including time from home
Building a stable, skilled team who share a child-focused approach
Embedding trauma-informed, therapeutic and consistent care
Overseeing safeguarding, risk management and placement planning
Working closely with key professionals to ensure the young person feels safe and supported
Shaping the routines, systems and ethos of the home from scratch
Who they’re looking for
This isn’t a stepping-stone role. It’s for someone who wants to build something with longevity.
You’ll need:
Experience registering a children’s home with Ofsted
Level 5 in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or close)
Strong background in EBD settings, with a solid understanding of therapeutic approaches
A leadership style that’s confident, grounded and centred around young people
Commitment to building a long-term, stable culture
A desire for autonomy with the judgement to use it well
What’s on offer
Salary up to £60,000
£2,000 registration bonus
£5,000 bonus for Ofsted Good/Outstanding
2:1 or 3:1 staffing model to support safer, more meaningful work
Full autonomy to design your own routines, systems and diary
Flexi hours and work-from-home options where appropriate
Strong support from experienced consultants and an invested RI
Clear progression as the organisation grows its children’s services
Why this role stands out
Because it lets you lead without being boxed in.
You’ll have real influence. Real say. Real ownership. With backing from people who understand this sector inside out and want their managers to be trusted, not controlled.
You’ll be shaping the first chapter of a brand-new home: the culture, the expectations, the standard of care. For the right person, that’s the kind of opportunity you only get a handful of times in a career.
If you want to build a service that feels safe, nurturing and purposeful and you want the autonomy to do it properly, this is a role worth exploring.
