MANAGER

Registered Manager,

  • Residential Children’s Home (EBD)

  • Keighley, West Yorkshire

  • £55,000 to £60,000 per year plus bonuses

We’re looking for an experienced Registered Manager to lead a children’s home in Keighley, West Yorkshire, registered with Ofsted for up to four young people with emotional and behavioural needs, which has just become the first home in a brand new, owner-led care group with around twenty years of children’s residential experience in its leadership. Two young people are already living in the home and feel settled there, a full staff team who know them really well is in place, and the salary of £55,000 to £60,000 plus bonuses reflects the experience, judgement and heart this Registered Manager role needs.

You’re getting an established home with relationships already built, alongside the chance to help shape a growing group from its very first chapter, and that combination is potentially career-defining for the right person.

Why this Registered Manager role stands out

  • You’re stepping into a home where the young people already feel secure and the team already knows them well, so your energy can go into building on everything that’s working and taking the care to the next level

  • As the first home in a new group, this is the home that sets the standard, and you’ll have a real say in the culture, values and practice that everything else grows from

  • There’s room for up to four young people, which means you’ll potentially shape who comes to live there next, at a pace that feels right for the children already calling it home

  • The team has stayed together through a change of ownership, which says a lot about their loyalty to the young people, and leading a group like that into a fresh start is one of the most rewarding things a manager in residential childcare can do

  • As the group grows, there’s every chance the person who builds this home well will grow with it, so it’s a role with a long-term future as well as an immediate purpose

The leadership behind the home

  • The group is owner-led and based just over the Pennines in Manchester, so the directors are close by, invested in this home personally and easy to reach when you need a decision made

  • One of the directors has worked in children’s residential care and social care for around twenty years, from childcare management through to running homes, supported housing and care training, so you’ll be working with people who know the realities of the job inside out

  • Being a new, independent group means there are no layers of head office between you and the people making decisions, which gives you room to lead your home your way with genuine backing behind you

  • The salary and bonus structure show a leadership team who value their Registered Manager properly and understand that great care starts with great leadership

What you’ll be doing as Registered Manager

  • Leading the home through its change of ownership with warmth and consistency, so the two young people living there feel secure, listened to and involved in the decisions that shape their lives

  • Getting to know your staff team well and helping them grow through regular supervision, training, reflective practice and a shared commitment to trauma informed, relational care

  • Working closely with the directors to shape the group’s policies, values and approach to care, so the foundations you lay in Keighley become the blueprint for every home that follows

  • Leading the home’s Ofsted registration under its new ownership and making the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards part of good everyday practice

  • Welcoming new young people thoughtfully, working with social workers and local authorities so that every child who moves in is a good match for the young people already living there

  • Building strong relationships with families, schools, health professionals and partners across Keighley, Bradford and the wider West Yorkshire community

  • Managing the home’s budget, rotas and resources with the trust and support of directors who want you to make the right decisions for your home

What you’ll bring

  • Experience as a Registered Manager in a children’s home, or experience as a Deputy Manager with the confidence and readiness to step up and register with Ofsted

  • The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or you’re close to completing it, alongside the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare

  • A strong background supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs, and a genuine belief in relational, therapeutic and trauma informed practice

  • A confident understanding of Ofsted, the Quality Standards and safeguarding in children’s residential care

  • The warmth, curiosity and entrepreneurial spirit to help build something new while keeping young people at the centre of everything

  • A full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK

What’s on offer

  • A salary of £55,000 to £60,000 per year plus bonuses, set to reflect the skill involved in guiding a children’s home through a new chapter and growing it thoughtfully

  • Direct access to directors who are close by, experienced in the sector and invested in your success

  • A genuine voice in shaping a new care group from its very first home

  • Real potential for progression as the group grows across the North

  • A settled home with a full staff team, so you can focus on quality and development from day one

If you’ve read this far and found yourself picturing the house, the team and the two young people around the kitchen table, I’d really love to have a proper chat with you. A relaxed conversation always comes first before any formal application, so there’s plenty of space to ask questions and get a feel for whether this Registered Manager role in Keighley is the right next step for you. Whether you’re ready to move now or you’re simply wondering what your next chapter in children’s social care could look like, send us a message through Indeed and we’ll sort out a time to talk it through.
