Registered Manager

Children's Residential Care

Melton Mowbray, LE13

Up to £54,500 per annum plus bonuses

A Registered Manager role has come up in Melton Mowbray, running a small children's residential home supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

The provider behind this home has multiple other homes, each rated good or outstanding with Ofsted, and each built around a domestic, family style setting. They have an in-house psychologist involved in reviewing care plans and delivering staff training, so the therapeutic side of the work has clinical backing. Registration processes have been handled carefully, home by home, and there's a structured approach to supporting managers once they're in post.

The role:

  • Full responsibility for the day to day running of a small residential home for young people with EBD needs, including staffing, rotas and quality of care

  • Acting as the designated person in charge, managing Reg 44 visits, Ofsted inspections and external professional visits

  • Leading and supervising a staff team, carrying out inductions, supervisions and staff development

  • Working alongside an in-house psychologist and wider clinical support to embed therapeutic approaches into daily practice

  • Building relationships with placing authorities, families and other professionals involved in each child's care

  • Maintaining safeguarding practice and driving outcomes for every young person in the home

What you'll need:

  • A relevant Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards it

  • Experience managing or deputising in a children's residential setting, ideally with EBD, MH or LD background

  • Strong working knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding, whistleblowing procedures and the quality standards under the Children's Homes Regulations

  • A full, clean UK driving licence

  • A clean enhanced DBS, with the update service if you hold one

Salary is up to £54,500 depending on experience, and there's a bonus structure alongside it including an Ofsted inspection bonus, a monthly Regulation 44 bonus, an occupancy bonus, and 33 days annual leave once bank holidays are included. Pay progression is reviewed twice yearly against criteria set out in your PDP, so it's not left vague.

If you've got residential management experience and this location and structure work for you, send your CV across or message me and we can talk through the detail.
