Registered Manager

Children’s Residential Home (EBD)
Mickleover, Derbyshire

You’ll be leading a children’s home supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs, with the backing of an organisation that already understands regulated care, quality standards and what good leadership looks like in practice.

There’s a clear structure around you, experienced senior leaders, and the space to lead in a way that feels thoughtful rather than rushed. You’re trusted to run the home properly, build your team and keep the focus where it belongs, on the young people and the environment they grow up in.

If you enjoy being present in the home, knowing your team well and having oversight that actually means something, this is the kind of role where that’s possible.

About the home

The service provides assessment and longer-term placements for young people, with a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing, education and multi-disciplinary working.

Care planning is purposeful, partnership working is active and the home environment is designed to feel safe, welcoming and consistent. You’ll be working alongside professionals across health, education and therapy to make sure support is joined-up and realistic.

It’s the sort of setup where good ideas are welcomed and standards are taken seriously, because outcomes matter.

Your role as Registered Manager

You’ll hold Ofsted registration and take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of the home.

That includes:

  • Leading and developing a residential team so practice stays strong and consistent

  • Overseeing care planning, safeguarding and quality assurance

  • Making sure the home operates in line with Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards

  • Building positive relationships with families, professionals and the wider community

  • Supporting staff development through supervision, coaching and appraisal

  • Monitoring performance, resources and compliance

You’ll be visible, involved and able to balance operational detail with the bigger picture.

What you’ll need

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)

  • At least five years’ experience within children’s residential care

  • Minimum two years’ experience in a management role

  • Strong understanding of Ofsted inspections, safeguarding and regulatory frameworks

  • Full UK driving licence and confidence driving regularly

  • Enhanced DBS

You’ll bring professional curiosity, emotional intelligence and the ability to guide a team with clarity.

Salary and benefits

Alongside a competitive salary, the package includes:

  • Structured pay progression reviewed twice yearly (March and October)

  • Annual appraisal bonus, probation bonus and Ofsted bonus

  • Paid face-to-face training and ongoing development

  • Company pension scheme

  • Additional annual leave for your birthday

  • Employee assistance programme

  • Paid Christmas event

  • Refer a friend bonus

  • Enhanced overtime rate after 160 hours per month

It’s a benefits package that recognises the responsibility of the role and the commitment it takes to do it well.

Why people tend to move into roles like this

Because they want the chance to lead with intention.
Because they value support from leaders who stay close enough to be useful.
Because they want to see the difference good leadership makes over time, not just week to week.

And maybe, if you’re reading this, because you’re ready for a role where your experience carries real weight.
