About the home
This is a newly developed 6 bed EBD children’s home in Southall designed to provide high quality, therapeutic care for young people with emotional and behavioural needs. The home includes dedicated spaces for education, wellbeing and meaningful activities, allowing practice to be purposeful and child focused from the very start.
You’ll be joining a growing provider with multiple homes across the region and a clear plan for further development, offering genuine scope to shape both the service and your own progression.
The purpose of the role
As Registered Manager, you will hold full responsibility for the leadership, quality and day to day running of the home. You will create a positive, nurturing environment where young people feel safe and supported, while developing a confident and skilled staff team who deliver consistent, high quality care.
You will lead the home through registration and into full operation, embedding strong practice, clear expectations and a culture that prioritises relationships, stability and progress.
Key responsibilities
Leadership and management
Provide overall leadership and direction for the home, setting standards for practice and performance
Build and develop a cohesive staff team through safer recruitment, supervision, coaching and appraisal
Promote a positive, inclusive culture where children and staff feel valued and supported
Manage rotas, staffing levels and on call arrangements to ensure safe and effective cover
Quality of care and safeguarding
Ensure the home operates in line with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
Oversee care planning, placement plans, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies
Lead safeguarding practice, ensuring concerns are responded to appropriately and learning is embedded
Promote positive outcomes for children across education, health, independence and relationships
Regulatory and operational oversight
Lead Ofsted registration and maintain ongoing readiness for inspection
Develop and maintain key documents including the Statement of Purpose and internal policies
Monitor quality through audits, reviews and improvement planning
Manage budgets and resources responsibly while maintaining a high standard of care and environment
Partnership working
Develop strong relationships with local authorities, commissioners, schools and external professionals
Work collaboratively with families and networks to support positive outcomes for children
Contribute to strategic discussions around referrals, matching and service development
About you
You are an experienced Registered Manager or a capable Deputy Manager ready to progress, with a strong understanding of residential childcare and the expectations of Ofsted.
You bring a thoughtful leadership style, confidence in safeguarding, and a genuine commitment to developing both people and services. You enjoy creating environments where teams feel motivated and children can build confidence, resilience and independence.
Essential criteria
Significant experience within a children’s residential setting supporting young people with EBD
Experience of Ofsted inspections and regulatory requirements
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, care planning and quality assurance
Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance and build positive working cultures
Full UK driving licence
