What you'll be doing

• Leading the home through its Ofsted registration process, including preparing confidently for your fit person interview alongside the directors

• Recruiting, inducting and developing your own team of residential support workers and senior staff, so the culture reflects your values from the very first shift

• Creating a warm, relational and therapeutic home for young people with emotional and behavioural needs, where daily life feels like family life and relationships always come first

• Managing referrals, matching and impact risk assessments carefully, so every young person who moves in is the right fit for the home and for any future peers

• Building strong partnerships with social workers, virtual schools, CAMHS, families and the wider professional network around each child

• Keeping safeguarding, quality assurance and the Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards at the heart of practice, including Regulation 44 visits and Regulation 45 reviews once the home is open

• Supervising, coaching and encouraging your staff so they feel confident, valued and keen to grow with the home for years to come

What you'll bring

• A completed Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or an equivalent qualification

• Experience as a Registered Manager in children's residential care, or a strong Deputy Manager background with Level 5 in hand and a real appetite to lead a home of your own

• A solid understanding of trauma, attachment and relational practice, and how that helps young people with EBD needs feel safe enough to settle, trust and thrive

• Confidence with Ofsted, the Quality Standards and what inspectors look for at registration and throughout the life of a home

• A visible, approachable leadership style where you're comfortable on the floor, modelling the care you expect and celebrating your team when they get it right
