MANAGER

Registered Manager

  • 4 bed Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) children's home

  • Location: Stoke-on-Trent

  • Salary: Up to £55,000, set to reflect the seniority and complexity of the role

  • Currently supporting two young people, within a registered capacity of four

  • Established, well supported Deputy Manager already in post

  • Provider holds Ofsted Good Provider status

Why this one is worth your attention

The service is operating comfortably within its registered capacity, the staff team has continuity behind it, and there is an experienced Deputy Manager already embedded who wants a strong Registered Manager to work alongside.

Here is what sets this opportunity apart from most of what is currently listed under Registered Manager jobs in children's residential care:

  • A stable home

  • Leadership above you that responds quickly, makes decisions without unnecessary layers of sign off, and is invested in getting the right person into the role

  • A Deputy Manager who provides continuity and support from day one, meaning you are building on something established

  • An organisation with Ofsted Good Provider status, giving you a regulatory foundation to build from

  • A salary that has been shaped around the true weight of the role, not a starting point for negotiation

What the role involves

  • Holding full day to day and strategic responsibility for a 4 bed EBD children's home, in line with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards

  • Leading and developing a staff team, working closely alongside an experienced Deputy Manager

  • Maintaining the standard of care, safeguarding practice and record keeping associated with achieving and sustaining a Good or Outstanding Ofsted judgement

  • Managing placement planning, individual care plans and risk assessments for young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs

  • Building strong working relationships with placing authorities, education providers, families and external professionals involved in each young person's care

  • Overseeing staff recruitment, training, supervision and rota management to protect consistency of care

  • Reporting into senior leadership with clarity, flagging risk early and contributing directly to the ongoing development of the home

What you will bring

  • A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Children and Young People's Residential Management), or a willingness to work towards it

  • Demonstrable experience managing or deputising within a children's residential setting, ideally within EBD or complex needs provision

  • Strong working knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Ofsted Quality Standards and current safeguarding frameworks

  • A visible, confident leadership style that supports and develops a team, with the emotional intelligence this sector genuinely demands

  • A full UK driving licence, ideally with access to your own vehicle

The reward

  • £55,000 salary, positioned to reflect both the regulatory accountability of the Registered Manager role and the specialist nature of EBD provision

  • The chance to lead a home with continuity already built in, supported by an established Deputy Manager

  • Direct, responsive senior leadership genuinely invested in your success in the role

  • A provider with Ofsted Good Provider status, giving you a strong platform to work from immediately
