Registered Manager

EBD Children's Residential Care

Thorpe Astley, Leicestershire

Up to £54,500

What This Role Is

This is a Registered Manager position leading an EBD children's residential home in Thorpe Astley, Leicestershire, supporting young people aged 12 to 17 with a salary of up to £54,500 per annum plus a performance bonus structure that rewards the quality of your leadership.

The Organisation

This is a values-driven, family-run organisation with multiple EBD residential homes across Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Milton Keynes and Derbyshire and a deliberate, considered approach to the way it delivers care.

What makes this provider stand out is the model itself:

  • Small homes supporting one to two young people because meaningful, individualised care is only possible when the environment allows for it

  • In-house psychological support providing bespoke staff training, care plan input, evidence-based assessments and direct therapeutic interventions for every young person in their care

  • A domestic, family-style environment built around the fundamentals of good parenting; warmth, consistency, encouragement and genuine investment in each young person's development

  • Ofsted-registered homes situated in desirable, well-connected locations with a track record of strong inspection outcomes, including a Good rating

  • A clear, structured growth plan across the Midlands, with homes operating to consistently high standards regardless of geography

The ethos here is straightforward: every young person in their care deserves the same opportunities to grow, succeed and build a future regardless of where they have come from or what they have been through.

The Role

As Registered Manager for the Thorpe Astley home, you will carry the full regulatory accountability for the home and lead a small, close-knit staff team to deliver care that is genuinely child-centred and consistently high quality.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Holding Ofsted Registered Manager accountability and maintaining full compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards

  • Leading, supervising, developing and supporting your staff team to deliver outstanding care day to day

  • Overseeing all safeguarding practice, risk management, care planning and placement stability

  • Building strong, collaborative relationships with placing authorities, social workers, IROs, families and multi-agency partners

  • Developing and sustaining a home culture that prioritises the individual — not the group, not the system, but the young person in front of you

  • Driving continuous improvement and preparing for Ofsted inspections with confidence

  • Contributing to the wider organisation's development as part of a supportive and experienced operations structure

What You Will Need

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or actively working towards it. fully funded support is available)

  • Solid experience in children's residential care, with at least two years at senior or management level

  • A strong working knowledge of EBD and the complex, layered needs that young people in residential settings often present with

  • In-depth understanding of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards, SCCIF and Ofsted inspection methodology

  • Existing Ofsted registration as a Registered Manager or the demonstrable readiness and experience required to apply for registration

  • Leadership qualities that show, with a track record of developing staff, maintaining compliance, and achieving meaningful outcomes for young people

Why This Is Worth Your Attention

The children's residential care sector has no shortage of job adverts, and most of them read the same way with a list of duties, a salary, and a vague promise of a supportive team.

This is different, and here is why:

  • The model works. One or two young people per home is not just a selling point, it is what makes genuinely individualised care possible, and it is what gives Registered Managers the capacity to lead well rather than manage chaos.

  • The therapeutic infrastructure is already there. Access to an in-house psychologist who works directly with your team and your young people is not something most providers offer, and it makes a real difference to practice quality and staff confidence.

  • You will be supported, not left to get on with it. This is a family-run organisation where operational decisions are made by people who understand the sector not a corporate structure where the homes are numbers on a spreadsheet.

  • The bonus structure is meaningful. Performance bonuses tied to Ofsted outcomes, occupancy and regulatory compliance put financial recognition in your hands, based on the quality of your work.

  • The young people are the priority. The organisation's mission is to ensure every young person in their care has the same opportunities to grow and thrive regardless of their background and the way the homes are designed, staffed and supported reflects that.
