MANAGER

Registered Manager

Children's Residential Home

Thorpe Astley, Leicester

Up to £54,500 per annum + up to £4,500 in annual bonuses

This Registered Manager position based in Thorpe Astley, Leicester, currently rated Outstanding by Ofsted and home to one young person with complex EBD needs. The salary is up to £54,500 per annum, with a structured bonus package of up to £4,500 a year on top of that, and 33 days of annual leave including bank holidays.

The home you'd be leading isn't a large, multi-bed provision with a revolving door of young people and shift patterns that feel like you're managing a rota more than running a home. It supports one young person, which tells you something important about the organisation's priorities before you've even spoken to anyone. They've deliberately chosen to operate at low occupancy because, to them, the quality of the experience each young person has is non-negotiable, and scaling down is how you protect it.

The organisation behind this role was built on a director's vision that every young person in care deserves exactly the same opportunities as anyone else, regardless of their past or their background. Ofsted's Outstanding rating at this home isn't something the organisation is resting on, it's the result of a very deliberate approach to how leadership is expected to operate, and it needs protecting.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Holding full registration with Ofsted under the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and leading the home in full compliance with the Quality Standards

  • Managing the day-to-day running of the home, including staffing, placement stability, safeguarding, and care planning for the young person in your care

  • Leading, supervising and developing your team so that standards remain high and staff feel genuinely supported in doing their best work

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with placing authorities, social workers, IROs and multi-agency partners, acting as a confident and credible advocate for the young person you're responsible for

  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation to the standard expected at an Outstanding-rated provision

  • Preparing for and leading Ofsted inspections and Regulation 44 visits with confidence and transparency

  • Contributing actively to the organisation's wider ambitions for its homes and the young people living in them

What you'll need:

  • A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or a commitment to completing it if you are already registered as a manager with Ofsted in a relevant setting)

  • Previous experience as a Registered Manager of a children's residential home, or solid Deputy Manager experience in children's residential care with a clear readiness to step up

  • A solid working understanding of Ofsted's Social Care Common Inspection Framework and what Outstanding actually requires in practice

  • Experience of safeguarding, risk management, care planning and multi-agency working in a children's residential setting

  • A full UK driving licence

  • The kind of leadership presence that supports people rather than simply directs them

What you'll get:

  • Up to £54,500 per annum base salary

  • Annual Ofsted inspection bonus of up to £1,000 depending on outcome

  • Monthly full occupancy bonus of £200 (paid one month in arrears)

  • Monthly Regulation 44 bonus of £50 (paid one month in arrears)

  • 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, 33 days in total

  • A comprehensive benefits package

  • The genuine autonomy to lead a home with a track record that speaks for itself

An Outstanding-rated solo-occupancy homes don't come up often, and when they do, they tend to go quickly because the people already working in this sector know what they're looking at.
