Registered Children’s Home Manager

We’re recruiting a Registered Children’s Home Manager for a small, therapeutic children’s home supporting young people (typically ages 8 to 16) with social, emotional and behavioural needs, and sometimes mild learning needs. It’s a service built around relationships, routines that make sense, and a home environment that feels genuinely lived in.
If you’re an existing Registered Manager, you’ll recognise what good looks like. If you’re a strong Deputy ready to step up, you’ll find real support to help you grow into the role.
The role
As Registered Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the home in line with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards. You’ll lead practice, guide decision-making, and shape the culture so the team know what’s expected and children know what they can rely on.
You’ll work closely with the Responsible Individual and senior leaders, and you’ll be trusted to run the home with professionalism, warmth, and high standards.
What you’ll be doing
Lead the home day to day, ensuring safe, child-centred care and strong safeguarding practice
Coach, develop and support the staff team through supervision, guidance and clear expectations
Work alongside social workers, education, health and other professionals to deliver joined-up plans for young people heartlycare.co.uk
Drive quality assurance, including oversight of recording, auditing, action planning and service development
Contribute to budgeting and resource planning, keeping the home well-run and well-resourced
Take part in the on-call rota, supporting the home when it matters most
What you’ll need
Essential:
Experience as a Registered Manager, Deputy Manager ready for progression within children’s residential care
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
A strong working knowledge of Ofsted, safeguarding, and children’s residential legislation
Confidence leading teams, strengthening practice, and building a positive home culture
Full UK driving licence
