Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

This is a Registered Manager position at a children's residential care home based in Wellingborough, working with children aged 8 to 16 who have emotional and behavioural difficulties. The salary sits between £45,000 and £55,000, and it reflects the weight of the role properly. If you are a deputy manager who has been doing the work of a Registered Manager for a while and wondering when you will actually get the title, this might be the moment to have that conversation.
The provider behind this role has built its model around therapeutic care, specifically the PACE framework. Therapeutic care shapes how the whole home operates, which means the young people are getting consistent care and the Registered Manager is working within a culture that supports good practice rather than undermining it.
There is great investment in staff development, a clear commitment to reflection and improvement at every level, and the homes are located to give young people real access to education, health, and community.
What the Role Involves
Full registered managership, with accountability for the home and the support around you to make that sustainable. Day to day:
Leading and managing the home in line with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and associated quality standards
Maintaining Ofsted compliance and keeping the home inspection-ready, with audits that actually mean something
Coaching, supervising and developing your staff team so people grow rather than grind
Liaising with social workers, health professionals, local authorities and commissioning teams to keep each child's care plan properly supported
Managing the home's budget within organisational parameters
Leading on safer recruitment, training and staff development
Participating in the on-call rota
Responding to the ongoing and changing needs of the young people in your care across education, health, emotional wellbeing and social development
What You Will Need
Level 3 Residential Support Worker, Level 4 Children, Young People & Families Practitioner or Level 3 Young Peoples Workforce (required)
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or happy to work towards this qualification
At least three years in a residential childcare setting, including a minimum of two year in a supervisory or management role (required)
Strong working knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Ofsted inspection frameworks and safeguarding responsibilities (required)
A full UK driving licence (required)
If you are coming from a deputy manager background and you have been doing most of this already, the step up here is probably smaller than the title suggests. This is a provider that will back the right person into a first Registered Manager role, so do not let that put you off getting in touch.
The Package & What It Reflects
Running a registered children's home under the Children's Homes Regulations, carrying Ofsted registration and leading a team of people working with some of the most vulnerable young people in the country is not straightforward work, and the salary here reflects that.
Beyond the money, this is a provider that is growing carefully, with two homes in Northamptonshire and a clear sense of what they are trying to build.
