Registered Manager
Residential Children’s Home (EBD)
Location: York
Salary: £56,000 to £70,000 per year (DOE)
Home: 2 Bed EBD, Registered for 3 Years with Ofsted "Good"
If you’ve ever wanted to run a home properly; one where stability, care and calm leadership actually mean something, this might be the role you’ve been waiting for.
This is a well-established 2-bed EBD home in York that’s been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and registered for three years. It’s a stable, settled service with the same two young people, who have lived there since day one, both in full-time education, both thriving. You’ll inherit a strong, consistent staff team and a Responsible Individual who genuinely supports rather than micromanages who has also been around since day one.
The Opportunity
You’ll take ownership of the home and lead with confidence, compassion and structure. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll shape practice, develop your team, and make sure every child feels safe, seen and supported.
The organisation has solid foundations, small enough to stay personal, but ambitious enough to keep growing. For the right person, there’s a clear route into dual management within two years, alongside mentoring and professional development from an experienced senior leadership team.
What You’ll Be Doing
Managing the day-to-day running of the home and ensuring it meets all regulatory standards
Leading, supporting and developing your team through supervision, reflection and consistency
Maintaining a nurturing, structured environment that supports emotional and behavioural development
Overseeing care planning, placement reviews and safeguarding processes
Building effective partnerships with professionals, families and the wider community
Driving quality, compliance and continuous improvement with a focus on outcomes, not just tick boxes
About You
You’ll already hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
You’ve managed a children’s residential home before
You’re confident working with regulation, inspection frameworks and complex care needs
You believe in leading by example and you know how to get the best from people
You’re emotionally intelligent, calm under pressure and genuinely motivated by the idea of helping young people build stable, meaningful lives
What’s on Offer
Salary up to £70,000 (depending on experience and track record)
36 days annual leave
Clear career progression opportunity to step into dual management within two years
Strong, supportive leadership and mentoring from an experienced Responsible Individual
Company pension and development opportunities
Free on-site parking and regular team events
This is a role for someone who wants to lead with heart and hea; someone who knows that a “Good” home can become “Outstanding” with the right balance of care, consistency and courage.
