SUPPORT WORKER

Residential Support Worker
Chellaston, Derbyshire

Salary: £31,396.80 to £33,164.80 per year (inclusive of sleep-ins)
Sleep-ins paid at £50 per night
Overtime paid at £2.50 per hour after 160 hours per month

Shift pattern: 1 day on / 2 days off
Shifts typically run 8am to 11pm plus sleep-in

This Residential Support Worker role is based in a children’s residential home in Chellaston, Derbyshire. The service is well established, well organised and led with clear expectations around care, safeguarding and professional practice.

The home supports young people with emotional and behavioural needs. Staff are supported through regular supervision, structured training and consistent leadership. The approach focuses on providing a safe, respectful living environment where young people can develop confidence, stability and independence.

The role

As a Residential Support Worker, you will provide day-to-day care and support to young people living in the home. The role involves practical support, emotional guidance and professional responsibility.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting young people with daily routines, education, activities and appointments

  • Building positive, appropriate relationships with young people

  • Maintaining professional boundaries and responding to behaviour in line with care plans

  • Contributing to care plans, risk assessments and accurate written records

  • Working closely with colleagues and external professionals

  • Maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming home environment

  • Completing sleep-in duties as part of the rota

Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence and confidence driving as part of the role

  • Experience working in children’s residential care

  • Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare or equivalent - desirable

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional practice

  • Enhanced DBS clearance
