Children's Residential Support Worker

  • Contract: Full-time, permanent

This role sits within a group of children's homes rated Good by Ofsted across every inspected home, with one sister home locally having progressed to an Outstanding rating under a manager who started their own career as a Residential Support Worker. Progression from Support Worker through to Senior, Deputy Manager and Registered Manager is an active pathway within the organisation.

What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting four young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties in a stable, trauma informed home environment

  • Building trusting, consistent relationships that help children feel safe, valued and understood

  • Maintaining routines, boundaries and positive role modelling

  • Responding to crises and challenging behaviour in a professional and controlled way

  • Supporting outings, community activities and daily living, including physical activity such as walking, carrying equipment and floor-based play

  • Working flexible shifts including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins

  • Completing all required daily records, handovers and documentation to a high standard

What you'll need:

  • NVQ, QCF or CYP Level 3 in Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards this

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Understanding of current legislation and organisational policy relevant to children's residential care

  • A calm, professional approach to managing challenging behaviour, including physical intervention once trained

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Willingness to complete the Proactive Approaches training course within the first three months

  • Flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins

  • Salary £27,040 to £30,160, rising to £34,240 to £37,260 with sleep-ins, before overtime
