Residential Support Worker

Children’s Residential Home | Burton-on-Trent
Salary: £31,396.80 to £33,164.80 per year (inclusive of sleeps)
Rota: 1 on / 2 off | 8am start to 8:30am finish | £50 sleeps

You’d be joining a two-bed therapeutic home in Burton-on-Trent, supporting young people who need adults who are steady, thoughtful and genuinely present. The team is experienced, settled and well-supported. The culture is warm, relational and structured; the kind of environment where staff speak up, learn, grow and look after each other.

What you’ll be doing

Your work here will matter in the small, everyday ways that build trust:

  • Supporting young people with routines, activities, appointments and education

  • Building relationships that feel safe, respectful and predictable

  • Supporting with personal care, meals, homely tasks and community outings

  • Keeping clear, accurate records (daily logs, incidents, risks)

  • Working 1:1 or 2:1 depending on the young person’s needs

  • Supporting behaviour with warmth, boundaries and a trauma-informed mindset

  • Working closely with the team to keep the home consistent and stable

  • Following safeguarding and regulatory expectations confidently

  • Using what you notice to shape support

What you’ll bring

  • A full UK driving licence and confidence driving (including evenings/motorways)

  • Level 3 Residential Childcare (or actively studying towards it)

  • Experience in residential childcare: EBD, SEMH, LD or secure environments

  • Understanding of safeguarding, boundaries, Ofsted expectations and structured care

  • Clear written communication and accurate recording

  • Reliability, warmth and a grounded approach to teamwork

  • A clean DBS

Pay, rota and benefits

  • £31,396.80 to £33,164.80 inclusive of sleeps

  • £12.31 to £13.81 per hour

  • £50 per sleep (around 8–10 sleeps per month depending on the rota)

  • 1 on / 2 off pattern; 8am start to 8:30am finish next day

  • Overtime paid at +£2.50 ph after 160 hours
