Residential Support Worker

• Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire (S10)

• Salary: £12.75 to £13.25 per hour plus £60 per sleep-in

• Estimated Annual Take Home: £33,720 to £34,760

• Shifts: Mixed with 160hrs per month and approx 10 sleep ins

This is a six bed children's home in the S10 area of Sheffield, already rated Good by Ofsted, currently supporting four young people as it grows towards its full capacity. You'll be joining a service with an established therapeutic model and a track record that's already been tested by inspection, while still having real scope to shape how the home feels.

• Five of the six beds are registered for young people aged 8 to 18, with the sixth supporting a 16+ semi-independence pathway, so you'll get exposure to both full residential care and the step down towards independent living

• Every young person has their own room with an ensuite, encouraged to personalise it and make it theirs

• Care is built around individual plans, with emotional wellbeing treated as the starting point for everything else that follows

• Life skills training is pitched to each young person's age and ability, so you're building real independence with them

• You'd be joining a team that's still growing into its full shape, which means your voice on how things develop day to day genuinely counts for something

What you'll be doing:

• Providing day to day care, guidance and support to young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties

• Working alongside families to rebuild and maintain positive relationships wherever that's appropriate and safe to do

• Supporting young people with more complex needs, including health interventions and medication administration where required

• Delivering age appropriate life skills training that builds towards genuine independence over time

• Working within a small, close knit team under a registered manager and deputy manager who are already in place and settled

• Contributing to individual care plans and daily records in line with children's homes regulations

What we're looking for:

• A minimum of one year's experience in residential childcare

• A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, either completed or currently being worked towards, with a clear pay progression route in place once it's finished

• Genuine comfort with a flexible, rota based shift pattern that includes sleep-ins, working out at around 160 hours a month with roughly nine sleep-ins built in at £60 a night

• Patience, consistency and a real want to be present with young people day to day, alongside the resilience this kind of work naturally asks for

• Full UK Driving Licence

Homes at this stage, already inspected well, don't come up that often, and they tend to offer a different kind of experience to walking into something long since set in stone.
