Residential Support Worker
Thorpe Astley, Leicestershire
Salary: £31,396.80 to £33,164.80 per year (inclusive of sleep-ins)
Sleep-ins paid at £50 per night
Overtime paid at £2.50 per hour after 160 hours per month
Shift pattern: 1 day on / 2 days off
Shifts typically run 8am to 11pm plus sleep-in
This Residential Support Worker role is based in a children’s home in Thorpe Astley, Leicestershire. The service is small, well organised and led with clear expectations around care, safeguarding and professional practice.
The home supports young people with emotional and behavioural needs. Staff are encouraged to work in a thoughtful, consistent way, building professional relationships and contributing to a stable and supportive living environment.
Training, supervision and development are part of how the service operates, not an afterthought. Managers remain involved in day-to-day practice and support staff to develop their skills and confidence over time.
The role
As a Residential Support Worker, you will provide day-to-day care and support to young people living in the home. The role combines practical support, emotional guidance and professional responsibility.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting young people with daily routines, education, activities and appointments
Building positive, appropriate relationships with young people
Maintaining clear professional boundaries and responding to behaviour in line with care plans
Contributing to care plans, risk assessments and accurate written records
Working closely with colleagues and external professionals
Maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming home environment
Completing sleep-in duties as part of the rota

Requirements
Full UK driving licence and confidence driving as part of the role
Experience working in children’s residential care
Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare or equivalent - desirable
Strong written and verbal communication skills
A good understanding of safeguarding and professional practice
Enhanced DBS clearance
