SUPPORT WORKER

Residential Support Worker

Service: Children’s Residential Home (EBD / SEMH)
Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire (NN8)

Salary: £30,860 per year
Sleep-ins: £55 per night averaging around 1 per week
Hours: 40 hours per week on a mixed rota rota (days, evenings, weekends, sleeps)

You’ll join a small therapeutic children’s home supporting young people aged 8 to 18 with emotional and behavioural needs. The provider runs a close network of homes locally, shaped around relationship-led practice, strong supervision and a culture where staff development is part of everyday life.

It’s a setting where the team know each other well, managers stay present, and good care is built through shared thinking and clear communication.

What the role involves

  • Supporting young people through daily routines, education and activities

  • Building positive, dependable relationships

  • Encouraging confidence, independence and personal progress

  • Supporting appointments, family time and community involvement

  • Using a trauma-informed approach to guide behaviour and maintain safety

  • Keeping records that reflect the young person’s journey and achievements

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to create a nurturing home environment

What we’re looking for

  • Experience working with children or young people (residential care, youth work, SEN, education, mental health or similar)

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards it

  • Strong communication skills and a reflective approach

  • Confidence working as part of a team

  • Full UK manual driving licence
