SUPPORT WORKER

Residential Support Worker, Children’s Home (EBD)

Location: Westhoughton, Bolton
Salary: £28,600 per year (£13.75 per hour) + £60 per sleep-in
Rota: 2 on 4 off rota
Perk: 33 days annual leave (264 hours)

Part time/Job share can be considered.

This is a well-established children’s home in Westhoughton supporting up to four young people who experience social and emotional difficulties. The approach is relationship-led and trauma-informed, with a real focus on safety, trust, and helping young people feel proud of where they live.

Ofsted rated the home Good at its first inspection (December 2024). The report highlights strong relationships, a stable team, a welcoming environment, and children saying they’re happy living there.

What you’ll do in the role

  • Support young people with everyday routines, goals, and independence skills

  • Build trusted relationships through consistency, clear boundaries, and warmth

  • Help create a home that feels homely, safe, and respectful

  • Work alongside education and other professionals to support progress

  • Keep records clear and meaningful, and contribute to care planning

  • Support young people to enjoy activities, interests, and positive experiences in the community

What we’re looking for

Ideally you’ll have:

  • Experience in children’s residential care (EBD experience is a big plus)

  • Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or working towards it)

  • DBS on the Update Service (preferred)

  • Confidence working as part of a team and making good day-to-day decisions

  • A practical, caring approach that helps young people feel safe and understood
