SUPPORT WORKER

Senior Residential Support Worker
Location: Aylestone, Leicestershire
Shift pattern: 8am–11pm, 1 day on / 2 days off, plus sleep-ins

We are recruiting a Senior Residential Support Worker for a small children’s residential home in Aylestone, supporting young people aged 12–17 with emotional and behavioural needs.

The home provides a structured, homely environment with a strong focus on consistency, relationships and clear routines. Senior staff play an important role in supporting practice, guiding colleagues and contributing to the overall quality of care.

The role

You will work as a senior member of the care team, leading shifts and supporting the day-to-day operation of the home.

You will support young people with routines, education, activities and appointments, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times. You will guide staff on shift, contribute to inductions and help maintain consistent standards of care across the rota.

You will be involved in care planning, risk assessments, reviews and meetings, working closely with social workers, education and therapeutic services. Recording is a key part of the role and should reflect accurate, professional practice.

You will also support the Registered and Deputy Manager and take on additional responsibilities when required.

What we’re looking for

You will have experience working in a children’s residential setting and be confident in a senior role.

Essential requirements:

  • Level 3 qualification in Children’s Residential Care or equivalent

  • Experience supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs

  • Experience leading shifts and supporting other staff in a residential childcare setting

  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and understanding of children’s homes regulations

  • Ability to make sound decisions and maintain professional boundaries

  • Full UK driving licence and confidence driving

  • Ability to work the rota, including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins

Pay and benefits

  • Salary of up to £30,160 per year plus sleep-ins

  • Sleep-ins paid at £50 per night
