SENIOR RESIDENTIAL

SUPPORT WORKER

Senior Residential Support Worker
Coalville, Leicestershire LE67
£33,164 to £36,160 per year

The service supports young people aged 12 to 17 and is built around consistent relationships, clear expectations and a therapeutic approach that runs through everyday practice. It’s a provider with a growing footprint in children’s residential care across the Midlands, known for investing in its teams and building homes where staff can develop long careers in the sector.

If you’re someone who enjoys leading shifts, supporting colleagues and staying hands on with young people day to day… you’ll probably find this role genuinely rewarding.

The Role

As a Senior Residential Support Worker you’ll play a key role in the life of the home.

You’ll support young people with routines, education, activities, appointments and all the moments in between that shape their confidence and independence over time. Residential childcare is rarely about one big moment. It’s the hundreds of everyday interactions that build trust.

Alongside direct care, you’ll lead shifts and support the wider team to deliver consistent, high quality practice. That might involve guiding a newer staff member through a situation, contributing to care planning, or helping the team reflect on how something went during handover.

Senior staff here remain close to the young people while also shaping the standards of the home. That balance matters.

You’ll also work closely with social workers, education staff, therapists and other professionals involved in the young person’s journey. Communication across that network keeps everything moving in the right direction.

Shift Pattern

Salary

  • £33,164 to £36,160 per year including sleep in rate

  • Sleep ins paid at £50 per night

  • Overtime paid at £2.50 extra per hour after 160 hours per month

Pay & Progression

One thing this provider does particularly well is clarity around progression.

Pay increases are linked to clear development criteria set with the Registered Manager and recorded through Personal Development Plans and annual appraisals. Staff know exactly what progression looks like and how to achieve it.

Salary reviews take place twice a year in March and October.

If probation is completed between those months, the pay increase is applied at the next available review point. For example, passing probation in August would see the increment applied in October.

It’s structured, transparent and actually followed through.

What Makes This Role Stand Out

There’s strong operational leadership above the home, which gives managers and senior staff proper support when it’s needed.

Training is delivered face to face, with a focus on practice that actually translates into the day to day work with young people.

Teams are kept stable and well supported, which helps young people experience consistency and helps staff develop real confidence in their roles.

The organisation is continuing to expand its residential services across the Midlands, so there are genuine opportunities to progress into Deputy Manager, Registered Manager or specialist roles over time.
