SENIOR RESIDENTIAL

SUPPORT WORKER

Senior Residential Support Worker

Coalville, Leicestershire LE67

£37,360 to £39,856 per year

This is a provider whose entire model is built on the belief that young people in care deserve the same quality of emotional warmth, encouragement and individual focus that any child in a loving family home would receive.

What makes them stand out in the sector:

  • They employ an in-house Associate Psychologist who works across their homes on a regular basis, reviewing care plans, delivering tailored staff training and helping teams build environments that are psychologically informed

  • Homes are kept at low occupancy deliberately, so every young person receives quality individual attention and every staff member can do their job well

  • The therapeutic approach running through this home is consistent, relationship-focused and embedded into everyday practice, not just policy documents

  • They have a growing footprint across the Midlands and a strong track record of investing in their teams for the long term

The Role

As Senior Residential Support Worker, you will be a central figure in the life of this home, working directly alongside young people and helping to shape the standards of care delivered every day.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting young people with routines, education, activities, appointments and the quieter in-between moments that build trust over time

  • Leading shifts with confidence and helping the wider team deliver consistent, high quality practice

  • Guiding newer staff members through complex situations and contributing to their development

  • Contributing meaningfully to care planning and reviewing how things are going during handovers

  • Building genuine, sustained relationships with young people aged 12 to 17 who are working through complex experiences

  • Working within a wider professional network that includes social workers, teachers, therapists and other specialists involved in each young person's journey

Senior staff here stay genuinely close to the young people while also helping shape the standards of the home, and that balance is one of the more interesting aspects of the role.

Shift Pattern

  • 1 day on / 2 days off rotation

  • 8am start

Salary

  • Base salary: £30,160 to £32,656 per year

  • Sleep-ins paid at £60 per night, 10 per month = £7,200 per year

  • Total earnings: £37,360 to £39,856 per year

  • Overtime rate: £17.00 to £18.20 per hour after 160 hours per month

Pay Progression

Pay progression here is transparent and genuinely achievable:

  • Pay increases are tied to clear development criteria, agreed with the Registered Manager and tracked through a Personal Development Plan and annual appraisal

  • Salary reviews take place twice a year, in March and October

  • If you complete probation between review points, your increment is applied at the next available date with no ambiguity and no delays

What Makes This Role Stand Out

  • Strong operational leadership above the home, giving managers and senior staff proper support when it is needed

  • Face-to-face training with a clear focus on practice that translates directly into day-to-day work with young people

  • Stable, well-supported teams that allow young people to experience real consistency and staff to develop genuine confidence in their roles

  • A growing organisation with genuine pathways into Deputy Manager, Registered Manager and specialist roles for people who want to develop over time

  • An in-house psychologist providing regular consultation, supervision and bespoke training to staff, which is uncommon in the sector and makes a real difference to practice quality

  • Extra 8 hours annual leave for your birthday

  • Company pension scheme

  • Paid face-to-face training

  • Annual appraisal bonus

  • Probation bonus

  • Ofsted bonus

  • Paid Christmas party

What You Will Bring

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent

  • Confidence leading shifts and supporting colleagues

  • Strong written recording and communication skills

  • A genuine investment in helping young people build confidence, independence and positive relationships

  • A full UK driving licence is helpful for activities and appointments with young people

Why People Build Careers Here

In residential childcare, the culture of an organisation shapes everything, and this provider has built a reputation for doing it well:

  • Leadership invests in staff development and keeps expectations honest and transparent

  • Homes are properly supported so teams can grow stronger over time

  • Young people experience real consistency, and practice improves naturally as a result

  • Staff stay, develop and build long careers here rather than moving on after 12 months

For Senior Residential Support Workers who want to keep learning, stay connected to the young people they care about and develop into more senior roles over time, this is a genuinely good place to build something long-term.
