Senior Residential Support Worker - Residential Children’s Home

Salary Up to £38,020 per year
Rota 2 on / 4 off

If you have led shifts in a children’s home, you’ll know it is the small things that shape a young person’s day. Who does the school run. Who notices their mood change. Who holds boundaries while still feeling on their side.

This role sits right at the heart of that.

You will be joining an established children’s home with a strong inspection track record, part of a small and growing group of homes in the North West. The organisation works with children and young people aged roughly 8 to 17 with complex needs, and invests heavily in creating nurturing, consistent environments so they can feel secure and build resilience over time. The home is already registered with two young people.

What you will be doing

  • Leading shifts in a children’s residential home and setting the tone for the team

  • Providing emotional and practical support to young people with complex histories and individual support plans

  • Keyworking and building relationships that help young people feel heard, respected and believed in

  • Ensuring daily records, reports and updates are clear, accurate and useful for multi-agency working

  • Liaising with social workers, education providers and other professionals to keep plans moving

  • Supporting colleagues during busy moments and encouraging reflective conversations after incidents

  • Modelling good practice around safeguarding, boundaries, routines and house culture

Who we are looking for

  • At least 12 months experience working in a children’s home at Senior, Shift Leader or Team Leader level

  • Confident leading a team on shift and making sound decisions in line with care plans and policies

  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, attachment and behaviour linked to unmet need

  • Comfortable with recording, report writing and communicating with outside professionals

  • Someone who values consistency, reliability and strong relationships for young people and colleagues

Ideally, you will hold or be working towards a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), and you will be keen to keep learning as the organisation grows.
