Senior
RESIDENTIAL
SUPPORT WORKER
Senior Residential Support Worker / Team Leader
Heanor, Derbyshire
£42,824.40 per year including sleep-ins
This is a three bed EBD home in Heanor, currently supporting two boys, recruiting for a Senior Residential Support Worker with team leading responsibility. The shift pattern is 2 on 4 off across an average of 183 hours. The home sits within a small provider rather than a large corporate group, and their registered managers bring previous Outstanding judgements with them from earlier settings, which tends to shape how a home is run day to day, from training investment through to how staff are actually supported when things get difficult.
Salary is £34,916.40 basic, rising to £42,824.40 once sleep-ins are included at £65.90 each, with an hourly rate of £15.90 that reflects the Senior level responsibility attached to the role. You would need to hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or a Level 4 in Children, Young People and Families Practitioner. A driving licence is preferable, and an automatic licence is fine.
What you would be doing:
Leading shifts confidently, holding the plan for the day and supporting less experienced colleagues to follow it
Building genuine, trusting relationships with two young people who have experienced trauma and whose behaviour may reflect that
Managing and de-escalating EBD related presentations using trauma informed and therapeutic approaches rather than generic behaviour management
Contributing to and helping shape care plans, risk assessments and daily records to a standard that stands up to Ofsted scrutiny
Modelling boundaried, warm, consistent care that gives the young people something to actually rely on
Supporting the wider team's development, including newer or less experienced Residential Support Workers
Working closely with the Registered Manager and wider clinical and behavioural support professionals involved in the young people's care
What you would need to bring:
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or Level 4 Children, Young People and Families Practitioner qualification
Previous experience working with young people presenting EBD, ideally at Senior or Team Leader level already
A strong understanding of trauma informed practice, not just familiarity with the phrase
A full driving licence, automatic accepted
Enhanced DBS or willingness to undergo one
The resilience and self awareness that this kind of work honestly requires, alongside the ability to stay warm and present when things get difficult
A home this size means the young people are known properly by the people supporting them, rather than experiencing a rotating cast of faces, and the package reflects the level of responsibility that comes with Senior status in a setting like this. If your experience and qualifications match what is above, apply below or send your CV over and we can talk through the detail of the role.
