SENIOR RESIDENTIAL
SUPPORT WORKER
Senior Residential Support Worker
Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire
Pay: £30,160 to £39,856pa
A small residential home in Melton Mowbray supporting young people aged 12 to 17 with emotional and behavioural needs. The service is intentionally kept small so relationships stay genuine and the environment feels like a home rather than a workplace. Staff stay close to the young people, leadership stays present with the team, and good practice is part of everyday life rather than something spoken about in meetings.
This Senior Residential Support Worker role sits right in the middle of that.
You’ll lead shifts, guide colleagues and play a big part in how the home runs day to day. Not from behind a desk either. You’ll still be present in the home, cooking meals, helping with school routines, supporting activities, attending appointments, and being the adult who notices when a young person is having a good day… or when something isn’t quite right.
The provider behind the service has a long history in children’s residential care across the Midlands. Their homes tend to be well resourced, properly staffed and supported by leadership teams who actually understand the work on the floor. Training is face to face, development is planned properly and progression is something people genuinely move into over time.
What the role looks like day to day
As a Senior Residential Support Worker you’ll help shape the culture of the home while keeping the day moving in the right direction.
You’ll lead shifts, support colleagues and make sure the home runs safely and professionally throughout the day and night.
You’ll spend time with young people in the ordinary parts of life that matter most. School mornings, cooking together, trips out, conversations that start small and then turn into something more meaningful. Those moments add up over time.
Alongside that you’ll contribute to care planning, risk assessments and reviews, working closely with social workers, education and therapeutic services so everyone stays aligned around the young person’s progress.
Accurate recording, safeguarding awareness and professional judgement are part of everyday practice. Not paperwork for the sake of paperwork. Just clear communication about what’s happening in the home.
You’ll also support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager with shift leadership, mentoring new staff and helping the team maintain consistent standards across the home.
What people tend to value about working here

A provider with an established footprint in children’s residential care, meaning systems, safeguarding and compliance are well embedded across the service.
