SUPPORT WORKER

Senior Residential Support Worker - Residential Children’s Home (Learning Disabilities)

Location: Newton-le-Willows
Salary: £37,113 per year (approx. £29,913 basic + ~£7,200 in sleep-in payments)

Shift Pattern: 2 on 4 off

We believe every child deserves more than a roof over their head; they deserve a genuine home filled with warmth, understanding and opportunities to grow. In our children’s home, we care for up to three young people with learning disabilities (for example, autism), offering them not only safety and support but a chance at a life where they feel seen, valued and encouraged to shine.

If you’re someone who finds purpose in helping young people thrive, and you believe that consistency, kindness and respectful guidance really matter; then this might be the place for you.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading a close-knit team who support and nurture children day in, day out, embedding our values of care, compassion and respect.

  • Acting as a role model, showing patience, understanding and empathy in all interactions.

  • Supporting staff through both the highs and challenges of caring for children, cheering on progress, and steering through tough days with clarity and care.

  • Helping shape the children’s everyday lives, giving them experiences, routines and encouragement that help them build confidence, stability and hope for their future.

  • Stepping in when needed, to make sure the home remains a reliable, safe place even when things shift, because for the children, consistency matters most.

What you bring

  • Previous experience working in residential childcare ideally with children who have learning disabilities, but not strictly essential.

  • A relevant qualification (for example, Level 4 in Children, Young People & Families Practitioner, or Level 3 Residential Childcare)

  • Strong organisational and communication skills, so you can lead your team effectively and make sure everyone feels valued, heard and supported.

  • The emotional intelligence to respond kindly, calmly and creatively to children’s needs and the resilience to lead with compassion.

  • A genuine belief that every child deserves respect, stability and a chance to belong and be themselves.

  • A full UK Driving Licence

Why this role stands out

  • You’ll earn more than just a wage. The sleep-in payments are a meaningful addition, reflecting the extra responsibility and care you’ll be offering.

  • You’ll join a team and environment that back you with training, development and genuine opportunities to grow as a leader.

  • Free parking and on-site facilities make the logistics easier, so your focus stays where it should: on the children and your team.

  • You’ll be part of something important. This is building trust, forging connections, and giving children a chance to feel safe, valued and empowered.

  • Flexibility in the rota helps balance work demands with personal life because sustaining great care begins with people who are supported themselves.

If you’re ready to step into a role where leadership, kindness and commitment meet, where every day you’ll have the chance to shape lives, build trust, and bring hope, then we’d love to hear from you.
