If you’re already leading shifts and ready to play a bigger part in shaping how care is delivered, this could be a really good next step. This is a small, therapeutic 2-bed home supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs. It’s calm, structured and genuinely child-centred; the kind of environment where relationships come first and there’s proper time to do things well.
You’ll be joining a close-knit team who care deeply about good practice and who’ll back you to lead with confidence, curiosity and care.
The role
You’ll take the lead on shift, making sure routines are steady, communication is clear and the house feels safe and consistent. You’ll coach newer colleagues, play an active role in care planning and help create moments that matter for young people — the kind that build trust and confidence over time.
Your day-to-day might include:
Leading shifts and handovers, keeping the day-to-day running smoothly
Embedding structure, routine and therapeutic practice
Mentoring newer staff and supporting reflective learning
Writing and contributing to care plans, reviews and risk assessments
Building relationships with families, schools and local networks
Being that calm, reliable presence everyone can count on
What you’ll bring
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
18 months+ experience in a residential childcare setting
Confidence leading shifts and supporting a small team
Clear, thoughtful communication and good written recording
A calm, grounded approach that balances nurture and consistency
Full UK manual driving licence
What you’ll get
£35,080 to £37,680 per year
Sleep-ins paid at £50 each
Overtime at +£2.50 per hour after 160 hours a month
Twice-yearly pay reviews to recognise growth and contribution
Bonuses linked to appraisals, probation and Ofsted outcomes
Extra 8 hours’ paid birthday leave
Funded, face-to-face training and protected CPD time
Clear progression routes into more senior roles
Company pension, wellbeing support and employee assistance scheme
Referral bonuses and a proper Christmas do (because celebrating the wins matters too)
Why this job
Because it’s small enough for your work to matter and stable enough for you to grow.
You’ll be part of a home that’s well-led, consistent and genuinely values its people. A place where you can build real connections with young people and still have the space to develop your own career at the same time.
If that sounds like the kind of environment you’ve been looking for, we’d love to hear from you.
