SUPPORT WORKER

Senior Residential Support Worker

EBD residential children's home

Oldham OL8

£14.50 to £16.50 per hour plus £60 per night sleep ins (OTE £36,160 to £40,320pa)

This is a Senior Residential Support Worker role at a three bed EBD home in Oldham, paying between £14.50 and £16.50 an hour depending on experience, with sleep in allowances paid on top of that. It's a role for someone who's already comfortable holding shifts, mentoring less experienced staff, and stepping into a bit of informal leadership without needing every decision signed off first.

Behind the home is leadership with over three decades in residential childcare, the kind of experience that's opened and steadied more than one service and knows exactly what a strong senior team needs to feel like on the ground. They want people who are bought into the values of the home and the young people in it. For candidates who've felt like a number at bigger corporate providers, that's maybe worth sitting with for a second.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and coordinating shifts, providing hands on support and guidance to Residential Support Workers

  • Acting as a key worker for young people, building trusted relationships and supporting their emotional and behavioural development

  • Supporting the implementation of care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans

  • Modelling best practice around safeguarding, boundaries and therapeutic approaches to EBD

  • Supporting new and junior staff with induction, shadowing and day to day development

  • Contributing to daily logs, handovers and reporting in line with regulatory requirements

What you'll need:

  • Level 3 in Residential Childcare as a minimum, Level 4 desirable or willingness to work toward it

  • Strong experience working within EBD settings, ideally with some informal or formal senior responsibility already under your belt

  • A full UK driving licence, manual or automatic

  • A clear enhanced DBS, ideally registered on the update service

  • Genuine resilience and warmth in equal measure, plus the maturity to support both young people and newer colleagues through difficult moments

The pay band here reflects the seniority and complexity of the role properly and Oldham's location means a solid commute radius covering Manchester and beyond for anyone weighing this up against options further afield.
