Why this one stands out from the crowd
To be honest, a lot of senior roles on Indeed right now look and sound pretty similar, so here’s what makes this one worth a proper look.
The home is small by design, which means you get to know the young person properly, build trust at their pace and see the impact of your work week by week, maybe more clearly than you ever have before
Care is trauma-informed and child-centred, built around relationships, emotional wellbeing and helping a young person feel secure enough to grow in confidence and resilience
Earning a Good from Ofsted at its very first full inspection, only months after opening, says a lot about the foundations the team put down and the standard you’d be stepping into
The group behind the home is growing at real pace, with three homes open today, plans for six by the end of this year and around ten by the end of 2027, so the people who join now are potentially the ones moving into deputy, registered manager and even operations roles as new homes open across Yorkshire
The directors are hands-on, ambitious about quality and genuinely keen to grow their own people, which in a fast-growing provider means your development is something they’re invested in from day one
Four days off after every two on gives you a proper work and life balance, whether that’s more time with your family, a few days away or a long lie-in midweek while the rest of the world is at work
What your days will look like
As the Senior on shift, you’ll be the person the team looks to for direction, reassurance and good decisions, and the one who helps make the home feel safe, warm and well organised.
Leading shifts, delegating tasks and making sure each day runs well and in line with the young person’s care plan, placement plan and risk assessments
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the young person at all times, and supporting your colleagues to keep safeguarding front of mind
Supporting emotional, physical and mental wellbeing through trauma-informed, relationship-based practice
Mentoring and coaching Residential Support Workers, especially newer colleagues who are building their confidence in the role
Acting as Key Worker and contributing to care planning, reviews and the young person’s goals
Encouraging engagement with education and helping build independence and life skills, from planning and cooking meals together to writing a first CV and preparing for an interview
Supporting family time and important relationships where that’s part of the young person’s plan
Working alongside social workers, schools, therapists and other professionals, and representing the home confidently at multi-agency meetings
Keeping clear, accurate and reflective records, from daily logs to incident reports, and helping the team write in a way that’s respectful and child-focused
Supporting the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager and stepping up into their shoes when needed
What you’ll bring
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (Children and Young People’s Workforce) or an equivalent qualification
Experience in children’s residential care, ideally including some time leading shifts, acting up or supporting colleagues
A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection and the confidence to act on it
The ability to stay grounded, consistent and reassuring when a young person is feeling big emotions
Warm, clear communication and good organisation, with a natural way of bringing a team together
A genuine commitment to equality, diversity and positive outcomes for young people
A full UK driving licence
