Location: Westhoughton, Greater Manchester
Pay: £15.00 to £16.00 per hour + £60 per sleep-in (OTE £36,000 to £37,920 per year)
Rota: 2 on / 4 off
Annual leave: 264 hours (33 days equivalent)

We’re recruiting a Senior Residential Support Worker for a relationship-led children’s home in Westhoughton, supporting young people with EBD and trauma-related needs. The focus here is simple, but done properly: structure, boundaries, consistency, and care. The home has achieved a Good Ofsted outcome, and the environment is warm and welcoming.

This is a role for someone who wants to lead on shift, support a team, and help young people build trust over time with presence, routine, and leadership that makes the house feel safe.

Pay and benefits

  • £15.00 to £16.00 per hour DOE

  • £60 per sleep-in

  • OTE £36,000 to £37,920 per year

  • 2 on / 4 off rota

  • 264 hours annual leave (33 days equivalent)

The role

As Senior Residential Support Worker, you’ll be hands-on in the day-to-day running of the home and confident leading shifts. You’ll support Residential Support Workers, maintain high standards of care, and help keep practice consistent across the team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading shifts and supporting staff practice on the floor

  • Supporting young people with routines, education, health appointments, activities and life skills

  • Working with care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies

  • Maintaining strong safeguarding practice and professional decision-making

  • Completing clear daily records and contributing to reports

  • Building positive working relationships with families and professionals

  • Supporting a home culture built on respect, boundaries and trust

Essential requirements

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare

OR Level 4 Children, Young People and Families Practitioner
OR at least 75% completed towards either qualification

  • Minimum 18 months’ experience in children’s residential care

  • Confidence leading shifts and supporting staff practice

  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and professional standards

  • A Full UK Driving Licence
